Why & where did you start your yoga journey?
I was initially drawn to meditation but once I turned 30 it became obvious I needed to take care of my body as well as my mind. Initially vinyasa yoga spoke to me. I appreciated the acceptance of all body types and ability levels. I was not athletic or comfortable in my body and it was important for me to feel welcome.
How long have you been practicing yoga?
21 years
What do you feel people can gain from yoga?
Stress relief, and knowledge about how to take care of wrists, neck, and shoulders.
What has yoga done for you personally?
Yoga has always kept me strong and centered so my life off my mat is more enjoyable. In the past several years yoga has kept me strong in the face of illness and helped me recover. It's also been a healthy way for me stay present with myself as I worked through grief.
What is your fondest teaching memory at Root River Yoga?
Connecting with students through laughter.
